What is Replica and how does it work?
Replica has created a tool for game developers, animators, or advertisers to generate realistic sounding text-to-speech. It's enabled by a combination of a voice actor's talent and a powerful voice generation AI. The AI learns how to act by listening to the voice actor's style, pacing, the emotion.
We believe buyers are looking for, and willing to pay for, unique AI voices. In the future, voice actors will be paid to create character voices, rather than physical hours in the recording booth.
We are looking for voice actors to create their own Replica Voice and join the marketplace.
Replica is currently in early access. We have a product you can try out here: https://replicastudios.com/ One of the most common requests we get is for more diverse voices to be available.
Will AI voices put me out of business?
Nope. The quality is nowhere near the quality a professional voice actor could provide. AI voices are best suited for are not possible by voice actors. For example, dynamic voice lines in computer games or Siri like voice assistance.
For the foreseeable future, we will need voice actors to create and enhance our AI voices which means there’s potential for more voice recordings in the future if their voice is popular.
Do we own your voice forever?
You will always own your voice. The Replica Voices you create is a version of one of your performance styles. For example a hard sell advertising performance, or a soft children's book narration performance. We've added more information about the contract here.
Who will be using my Replica Voice?
So far, most demand has come from industries or products who don't work with traditional voice actors (think Siri on iPhone, dynamic voice advertising, robots, etc).
We also have interest from game development studios who are looking for placeholder audio while they develop their games. They'll bring in voice actors once they have finalised the script.
